01The whole idea

You hand your station a job: “put together a report on my competitors.”

The job shows up as a box on the belt.

It reaches the first agent. Their part: dig up the data.

What they produced rides on to the next agent. Their part: turn it into the report.

The finished report lands in the out tray, ready to use.

That’s all a belt is: an assembly line for work. Each agent owns one part of the job and passes their output down the line. And the box is not a cartoon — when you see it move, an agent is really working, right then. Still floor = nothing running.

02Why bother?

Each agent owns one part

One agent doing the whole job does every part half-well. On a line, the researcher researches, the writer writes, the checker checks.

The job runs without you

Hand work over at 3am, or have it arrive on a schedule. It moves through the line on its own. You come back to the finished thing.

You can watch the work

No spinner. No hidden queue. If your job is being worked on, you can see its box moving down the line.

03The four pieces

Open REFIT STATION to build. Everything below is under PROP 6, and the belt itself is BELT 7.

04Build one

  1. Put down three things

    Open REFIT STATION. Take the PROP tool 6. Place a front door, a desk, and an out tray in a row. Leave a small gap between each.

  2. Draw the belt

    Take the BELT tool 7. Click the front door. Then click the desk. A belt appears between them. Do the same from the desk to the out tray.

  3. Give the desk an agent

    Click the desk and pick someone. Watch the belt: it lights up. Lit means “this will work.”

  4. Set a spending cap

    Click the front door. Give the line a name and a budget. If you skip this, it’s $2.00 per job, and that’s the most it can spend.

  5. Try it

    Close the build screen. Send your station a task. Watch its box come out of the front door, slide to the desk, and drop in. Your agent is on it right now.

05Is it working?

Lit belt = will work. Dark belt = something’s missing.

You don’t have to test anything. Every time you change a belt, the app checks it and shows the result on the floor right away.

GLOWING

This belt ends at a desk with an agent. It moves. Boxes will ride it.

DARK

Same belt — but the desk is empty. Nothing moves until you fix that.

06Four shapes cover everything

Same job, four ways to run it through your agents. Each shape is just belts plus one signpost.

An assembly line. Each agent does their part and passes their output to the next. What comes out is the last agent’s finished work.

A stream of jobs, three agents. The signpost deals them out so all three work at the same time. Nothing gets lost.

Draft, critique, redraft. The work goes round up to 5 times, then comes out. It can never loop forever or overspend.

07Something’s not running

When a line won’t run, the reason is written on the machine itself — before anything costs you money. It’s almost always one of these four:

NO AGENT — CLICK

This desk is empty. Click it and pick an agent.

NOT ON THE LINE

No belt touches this desk. Connect it with BELT 7.

NOT FED

The belts don’t actually reach this desk. Usually one is clipping the corner of a signpost instead of going through it.

NOT CONNECTED

The front door has no belt out. Click the door, then click a desk.

DUP AGENT — ONE BAY EACH

The same agent is at two desks. One desk each.

A PROP SITS ON THIS LINE — MOVE IT

Furniture is sitting on a belt square. Move the furniture.

SPLITTER NEEDS 2 OUT-LANES

A splitter needs two ways out. Run belts through it: in one side, out two.

JOINER NEEDS 2 IN-LANES

A joiner waits for several belts to arrive. It needs at least two coming in.

NO DEFAULT LANE — CLICK

The filter doesn’t know where “everything else” goes. Click it and pick a lane.

LOOP! — BREAK THE CIRCLE

Your belts make a ring. Boxes would circle forever. Delete one square, or add a LOOP tile.

WORK LINE LOOPS — CUT ONE HANDOFF

Two desks feed each other. That runs forever and bills forever. Cut one belt.

LOOP HAS NO DONE / BACK LANE

A LOOP tile needs two exits: one going onward, one going back.

08Questions people actually ask

Do I even need belts?

No. You can just chat with an agent, no belts anywhere. Belts are for jobs that should flow through several agents on their own — especially ones that arrive while you’re away.

My belt is dark. Why?

It doesn’t end anywhere useful yet. Follow it to the end. You’ll find an empty desk, a gap, or a belt clipping the corner of a signpost.

Can two belts go to the same desk?

Yes. Boxes line up and wait their turn. The only thing you can’t do is put one agent at two desks.

What if it gets expensive?

Every line has a budget — $2.00 per job unless you raise it. At the cap it stops, hands over what it finished, and says so.

Does it stop when I close the window?

No. The work keeps going. The moving box is just a picture of it — the picture catches up next time you look.
